SOMEWHERE OUT THERE, a Google Maps user is feeling very pleased with themselves today.
And why is that? Well, if you search for Donald Trump’s fancy Fifth Avenue home on Google Maps, you’ll find this:
Ah! Comedy. But who is the villain responsible for such an act?
According to Mashable, changes to names on Google Maps need authorisation from a Google employee.
Submissions to change the database are reviewed by hand, so in line with Google’s instructions, someone would have had to hit approve on ‘Dump Tower’.
Needless to say, the change has been greeted with some amount of glee:
A Google spokesperson told the Associated Press that the name had been restored to the original, but at the time of writing, ‘Dump Tower’ is still there.
We can imagine it won’t stay around for long. Get Googling…
